I just erased them with a blank expression.

見えない言葉を

mienai kotoba o

I just aimlessly hunt

ただ当て所なく探す

tada atedonaku sagasu

for unseen words.

両手に触れたはずの音も

ryōte ni fureta hazu no oto mo

Even sounds I thought my hands had felt

もう消えていった

mō kiete itta

had already faded away.

嘘のような本当の赤い赤い

uso no yō na hontō no akai akai

The one who's shouting a red, red, pure white

真っ白を叫んでいるのは

masshiro o sakende iru no wa

that's true yet seems like a lie

誰でもない僕だけれど

dare demo nai boku dakeredo

is me, though I'm no one.

見えない、触れない、探しているもの

mienai, furenai, sagashite iru mono

But it's the unseen, unfelt thing I was hunting for.

1つに2つを重ねてずらせば

hitotsu ni futatsu o kasanete zuraseba

If I lay two on one and shift them,

「ああ　これって素敵でしょ？」

"ā kore tte suteki desho?"

"Ah, wouldn't that be great?"

誰も望まぬ単調な味

dare mo nozomanu tanchō na aji

It's a dull taste no one wants.

ほら　覗いた先に見えるものはなんだ？

hora nozoita saki ni mieru mono wa nan da?

Hey, what can you see where you've taken a look?

uzu o maite kaze no naka de

The time I spent shouting just by myself

ただ一人で叫んでた時間を

in the midst of a spinning whirlwind …

紛れさせてかき消す

magiresasete kakikesu

with the sound of the railway crossing.

近づいてはまた遠ざかる

chikazuite wa mata tōzakaru

As soon as it's gets closer it moves away again.

触れられない

furerarenai

I can't touch it.

3番4番5番を並べて

sanban yonban goban o narabete

If I line up numbers 3, 4 and 5

6つ数えてみれば　ほら

muttsu kazoete mireba hora

and try counting 6, see,

その先は立ち入り禁止の

sono saki wa tachiirikinshi no

what's beyond that is cordoned off

黄色と黒とで張り巡らされる

kiiro to kuro de harimegurasareru

with a black and yellow off-limits sign.

つまらぬ理屈を並べて壊して

tsumaranu rikutsu o narabete kowashite

Destroying one useless argument after another,

「ああ　それって無意味でしょ？」

"ā sore tte muimi desho?"

"Ah isn't that pointless?"

いつか葬るこの体に

itsuka hōmuru kono karada ni

While a chilly wind passes by

傍通り抜けてく風は冷たいまま

soba tōrinukete'ku kaze wa tsumetai mama

my body that will one day be buried.

nanatsu no hachinoji kokonotsu egaite

I drew nine lots of seven figures of 8.

「ああ　また同じ景色。」

"ā mata onaji keshiki."

"Ah, same old scene."

呆れるほどに無限ループして

akireru hodo ni mugenrūpu shite

Endlessly looping ad nauseam

先から先まで染めては消してく

saki kara saki made somete wa keshite'ku

I erase them from start to finish as soon as I colour them.

「左」を「右」だと

"hidari" o "migi" da to

Stubbornly insisting

意地でも通すのに

iji demo tōsu no ni

that "left" is "right"

意味はないけれど

imi wa nai keredo

is pointless,

この生ぬるい感覚で遊ぶ

kono namanurui kankaku de asobu

but I mess about with this lukewarm sensation.

意味は、意味など、少しもないけど。

imi wa, imi nado, sukoshi mo nai kedo.

Although there isn't the slightest sense or meaning to it.

there's nothing I can do.

だって、それが生きてることだから。

datte, sore ga ikite'ru koto dakara.

After all, that's what it means to live.
