木霊こだまには感情を乗せて、

When I let my emotions ride the echo,

早鐘が足を急がせる。

hayagane ga ashi o isogaseru.

the alarm bell quickened my pace.

並木の道を突き進んで。

namiki no michi o tsukisusunde.

Pushing through a tree-lined street.

かくれんぼ、鬼ごっこ、声がするよ。

kakurenbo, onigokko, koe ga suru yo.

"Play hide and seek, play chasing," a voice calls.

最初で最後だよ。きっと忘れないだろう。

saisho de saigo da yo. kitto wasurenai darō.

It's the first and the last. Surely I won't forget.

こんな四季をくれて感謝しています。

konna shiki o kurete kansha shite imasu.

I'm grateful for receiving these four seasons.

秋冬春夏を彩る言の葉が散る。

aki fuyu haru natsu o irodoru kotonoha ga chiru.

The words that add colour to autumn, winter, summer and spring fall and scatter.

ヒラリヒラリそれをポケットにしまった。

hirari hirari sore o poketto ni shimatta.

As they fluttered down, I stored them in my pocket.

夕暮れの中の電車から

yūgure no naka no densha kara

An upside-down clown peeks

逆さまのピエロが覗のぞいてた。

sakasama no piero ga nozoite'ta.

from inside a train in the evening.

虫の音は寂しさを誘う。

mushi no ne wa samishisa o sasou.

The sounds of insects invite loneliness.

入道雲、あした雨？　道化が訊きく。

nyūdōgumo, ashita ame? dōke ga kiku.

There's thunderclouds, rain tomorrow? the jester aks.

風が辻を通り、風見鶏に届く。

kaze ga tsuji o tōri, kazamidori ni todoku.

The winds goes through the road intersection and reaches the weather vane.

くるくると向きが変わり、望む方が決まる。

kurukuru to muki ga kawari, nozomu hō ga kimaru.

It changes direction round and round, and settles on the way it faces.

やがて木枯らしが吹き、雪が積もっても、

yagate kogarashi ga fuki, yuki ga tsumotte mo,

Though the wintry winds soon blow and the snow piles,

光の暖かさを忘れはしない。

hikari no atatakasa o wasure wa shinai.

there's no forgetting the light's warmth.

届かない詩をいつまでも･･･。

todokanai uta o itsumademo ….

This song that you will never hear ….

叫んでは声を嗄かららし、噎むせび泣く･･･。

The moment I shout, my voice goes hoarse, I choke with tears ….
