むかしむかし、あるところに

Mukashi mukashi, aru tokoro ni

Once upon a time in a certain place

三匹の子ブタがいました

sanbiki no kobuta ga imashita

there were three piglets.

ある日突然ママが言いました

aru hi totsuzen mama ga iimashita

One day suddenly Mama said,

「世界は広く海は青色に輝いてるの」

"sekai wa hiroku umi wa aoiro ni kagayaite'ru no"

"The world is wide and the sea sparkles blue."

それは見たい、旅へ行こう！

sore wa mitai, tabi e yukō!

We want to see it, let's go on a journey!

三匹は家を飛び出した

sanbiki wa uchi o tobidashita

The three piglets leapt out of the house.

険しい道のりでも構わない

kewashii michinori demo kamawanai

They didn't care about steep roads.

海が見たくて

umi ga mitakute

Wanting to see the sea,

嵐の中でも歩き続けた

arashi no naka demo arukitsuzuketa

they kept going even through a storm.

ケンカしては涙我慢して

kenka shite wa namida gaman shite

After an argument, they resisted tears.

今日も一歩大人になる

kyō mo ippo otona ni naru

Today's another step towards growing up.

雷の夜肩を寄せれば

kaminari no yoru kata o yosereba

On thundery nights, if they huddled close,

怖くないよ

kowaku nai yo

they wouldn't fear.

夜明けがきた

yoake ga kita

Dawn arrived.

雨上がりの草木輝く

ameagari no kusaki kagayaku

The plants after the rain sparkled.

あまりに綺麗で涙した

amari ni kirei de namidashita

It was so beautiful they were in tears.

海は近い山を越えよう

umi wa chikai yama o koeyō

The sea is near, let's go over the mountain.

虹のふもとまでもう少し

niji no fumoto made mō sukoshi

Only a little further to the base of the rainbow.

まんまる子グマは言いました

manmaru koguma wa iimashita

A chubby bear cub said,

「魚がたくさんいるよ」

"sakana ga takusan iru yo"

"There's plenty of fish!"

嘘つきキツネは言いました

usotsuki kitsune wa iimashita

A lying fox said,

「そんなものはない」

"sonna mono wa nai"

"No there isn't."

真っ白ウサギは言いました

masshiro usagi wa iimashita

A snow white rabbit said,

「耳をすませてごらん」

"mimi o sumasete goran"

"Listen carefully."

物知りフクロウ言いました

monoshiri fukurō iimashita

A wise owl said,

「真っ直ぐ進め」

"massugu susume"

"Move on straight ahead!"

辿り着いた丘の上で

tadoritsuita oka no ue de

When we finally arrived, from the hill above

一面の海を見つけた

ichimen no umi o mitsuketa

we could see the wide sea.

初めての潮風と波の音

hajimete no shiokaze to nami no oto

It was our first experience of the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.

噂\以上だ　海は青色に輝いていた

uwasa ijō da umi wa aoiro ni kagayaite ita

It was better than we heard. The sea sparkled blue.

海の先は何があるの？

umi no saki wa nani ga aru no?

What lies where the sea leads?

まだ知らない世界があるの？

mada shiranai sekai ga aru no?

Is there a world there yet unknown?

じゃあ泳いで行けそうもないからさ

jā oyoide ikesō mo nai kara sa

So then, since we can't swim over it,

海を渡れる船を作ろうよ

umi o watareru fune o tsukurō yo

let's make boats that can cross the sea.

さあ競争だ

sā kyōsō da

Let's make it a race!

一番に出来た葉っぱの船

Ichiban ni dekita happa no fune

The first boat made was one of leaves,

次に出来た土の船

tsugi ni dekita tsuchi no fune

the next was a boat of earth.

まだ作りかけ木製の船

mada tsukurikake mokusei no fune

Still half-finished was a boat of wood.

「置いていくぞ」嘲笑った

"oite iku zo" azawaratta

"Leave it and go!" they said, making fun of it.

光射して世界輝く

hikari sashite sekai kagayaku

With light shining down the world sparkled.

あまりに綺麗で涙した

amari ni kirei de namidashita

It was so beautiful they were in tears.

歌を歌い波を越えよう

uta o utai nami o koeyō

Let's sing a song as we cross the waves.

風味方につけ進んでく

kaze mikata ni tsuke susunde'ku

With the wind in their favour they move ahead.

優しいイルカは言いました

yasashii iruka wa iimashita

A kind dolphin said,

「この船じゃ危ないよ」

"kono fune ja abunai yo"

"A boat like this is dangerous!"

イタズラカモメは言いました

itazura kamome wa iimashita

A mischievous seagull said,

「穴が開いてる」

"ana ga aite'ru"

"You've got a hole."

大きなクジラは言いました

ookina kujira wa iimashita

A huge wale said,

「ほら壊れてしまった」

"hora kowarete shimatta"

"Look, it's breaking up."

眠そうなカメは言いました

nemusō na kame wa iimashita

A sleepy turtle said,

「引き返しなさい」

"hikikaeshinasai"

"Go back!"

えー?!

ee?!

Huh!?

遅れてやってきた木製船

okurete yatte kita mokuseibune

Lagging behind the others, the wooden boat came along.

「みんな乗れる、これで行こう」

"minna noreru, kore de ikō"

"Everybody can ride, let's go!"

三匹は仲良く船に乗る

sanbiki wa nakayoku fune ni noru

As good friends, the three piglets take a ride on the boat

海の先へ

umi no saki e

to where the sea leads.

ずっとずっと進み続ける

zutto zutto susumitsuzukeru

The kept moving ahead, on and on.

この船は決して沈みはしない

kono fune wa kesshite shizumi wa shinai

There's no way this ship will sink.

今も明日も旅をしている

ima mo asu mo tabi o shite iru

Today, tomorrow, we're on a journey.

「乗り込んでおいで連れてくよ」

"norikonde oide tsurete'ku yo"

"Come on board, we'll take you!"

三匹子ブタは言いました

sanbiki kobuta wa iimashita

The three piglets said,

「ケンカするかもだけど」

"kenka suru kamo da kedo"

"We might argue, but …"

三匹子ブタは言いました

sanbiki kobuta wa iimashita

The three piglets said,

「ずっと一緒だよ」

"zutto issho da yo"

"We'll stay together."

三匹子ブタは言いました

sanbiki kobuta wa iimashita

The three piglets said,

「これからも宜しくね」

"korekara mo yoroshiku ne"

"Let's keep up the good work!"

三匹子ブタは言いました

sanbiki kobuta wa iimashita

The three piglets said,

「僕らに続け」

"bokura ni tsuzuke"

"Follow us!"
