夜も更けてまいりました

Yo mo fukete mairimashita

It was late at night.

けれどまだまだ途遠し

Keredo madamada michi tōshi

But there was still a long way to go.

冷え込んでまいりました

Hiekonde mairimashita

It was getting colder.

まるで身も凍るほどです

Marude mi mo kōru hodo desu

I was getting chilled to the bone.

一日がんばりました

Ichinichi ganbarimashita

I was at it all day.

だけど仕事は山積みです

Dakedo shigoto wa yamazumi desu

But there's still a pile of work to do.

無理しないでまた明日

Muri shinaide mata ashita

Unable to do the impossible, tomorrow again

やれるだけやってみます

yareru dake yatte mimasu

I'll try to do as much as I can.

今日も可もなく不可もなく

Kyō mo ka mo naku fuka mo naku

Today was again neither good nor bad.

どうもこうもないようです

dō mo kō mo nai yō desu

It seems I've got any choice about it.

それでもまだマシかな

Still, it might be better

何かを失うより

than losing something.

見上げれば空一面に

When I looked up, the whole sky

輝く星屑の彫刻

kagayaku hoshikuzu no chōkoku

was a sparkling carving of stardust.

こんな夜もまぁいいかな

Konna yoru mo mā ii ka na

On nights like this, I just go along with it

ひとり歩く　かえりみち

hitori aruku kaerimichi

and walk home alone.

風が頬を触れました

Kaze ga hoho o furemashita

The wind grazed my cheeks.

ひんやりとしていい気持

It was cool and felt nice.

軽く息を吸いました

Karuku iki o suimashita

I breathed in lightly.

胸に染み入るようです

It was as if the cool seeped into my chest.

キラキラと揺れてました

The lights of the town

遠くに見える街 明かり

tōku ni mieru machi akari

glittered and wavered in the distance.

それぞれの思い照らした

Sorezore no omoi terashita

They shone on each person's thoughts

夢のかがり火のようです

yume no kagaribi no yō desu

like a lantern for their dreams.

ちょっとしたことですら

Chotto shita koto de sura

Even such a trifle

こんな美しいのに

konna utsukushii no ni

can be this beautiful,

急ぎ慣れちゃったかな

yet have I gotten so used to hurrying

何かと見落としがち

nanika to miotoshigachi

that I'm prone to somehow overlook things?

もう悲しいなんてもんじゃない

There's no way I'm sad.

I can't wait to do something.

Kirari to yurete kagayaite

May there be no tears

落ちる涙もないように

ochiru namida mo nai yō ni

that shine with a flash as they flutter down.

また明日も何事もなく

Mata asu mo nanigoto mo naku

Again tomorrow, uneventfully,

どんなナンダイにも動じず

donna nandai ni mo dōjizu

unperturbed by whatever difficulties I face,

ささやかな喜びに触れて

sasayaka na yorokobi ni furete

being touched by simple delights,

のんびりとまいりましょう

nonbiri to mairimashō

I'll take it easy.
