臆病な日陰者

a timid outcast.

Blown about by the wind,

風にゆられながら

kaze ni yurarenagara

I avoid the sun.

Yes, until very recently

大事に育ててきたのです

I was looked after and raised well.

誰も気付きはしないけど

No-one takes any notice of me

帰り道　電柱の陰にひそむ

on the way home I lurk in the shadow of the telegraph pole.

少しは笑いたくて

Sukoshi wa waraitakute

Wanting to smile a little

幻想と現状の隙間を覗く

gensō to genjō no sukima o nozoku

I peer into the crack between illusion and reality.

誰だって躓いて

Dare datte tsumazuite

Everyone stumbles

前に進んで行くもの

mae ni susunde iku mono

and then moves forward.

標識にぶつかって

Hyōshiki ni butsukatte

I bump against a sign

今日ももがいています

kyō mo mogaite imasu

and struggle on again today.

いつだって僕だって

Itsu datte boku datte

I too always

必死に生きてるんだもの

hisshi ni ikite'ru n da mono

desperately try to stay alive.

そうやって呟いて

Sō yatte tsubuyaite

I grumbled like that

街を眺めていた

machi o nagamete ita

and stared at the town.

流れる日々の裏側は

Nagareru hibi no uragawa wa

Underlying the passage of days

少し飽きてきたのです

sukoshi akite kita no desu

I've started getting a bit sick of life.

誰も見向きもしないけど

No-one pays any attention to me

but I'm right here.

Wanting to touch you

I lurk in the evening shadows on the rooftop.

少しは変わりたくて

senbō to zetsubō no sukima de sugosu

I spend my life in the crack between envy and despair.
