かたみちさんぽ ♥ Katamichi Sanpo ♥ One-way Walk

少女は一人、家から飛び出した

shōjo wa hitori, ie kara tobidashita

A girl dashed out of home on her own.

辺りには降り積もった雪がきらり

atari ni wa furitsumotta yuki ga kirari

Piled up snow shone around her.

朝方五時はまだ辺りも暗く

asagata goji wa mada atari mo kuraku

At five o'clock early morning, it's still dark all around

曇天がそれを更に深く染める

donten ga sore o sarani fukaku someru

and the overcast sky only deepened the dimness.

コンクリートはもはや影を潜め

konkurīto wa mohaya kage o hisome

Having left the concrete behind,

見慣れぬ景色に　はしゃぐ少女、一人

minarenu keshiki ni hashagu shōjo, hitori

the girl plays around in unfamiliar sights on her own.

空から注ぐ、新しい雪には目もくれず

sora kara sosogu, atarashii yuki ni wa me mo kurezu

Scarcely looking at the new fall of snow pouring from the sky

雪景色を駆ける、走る

yukigeshiki o kakeru, hashiru

she races, she runs through the snowy scene.

ギュッと鳴いた、踏みしめる雪

gyutto naita, fumishimeru yuki

Crying hard, a little cat

ふと横切る　小さな猫

futo yokogiru chiisana neko

happens to cross the trampled snow.

『上着もなくちゃ、寒いよ』と

"Uwagi mo nakucha, samui yo" to

"Without a coat, you'll be cold," she says

手袋差し出す

tebukuro sashidasu

and offers her glove.

何処どこまでもまた　広がる雪景色

dokomademo mata hirogaru yukigeshiki

The snowy scene spreads as far as she can see.

しんしんと　さらに雪は深く積もる

shinshin to sarani yuki wa fukaku tsumoru

The falling snow piles up even more deeply.

かたみちさんぽ。　少女は一人きり

katamichi sanpo. shōjo wa hitorikiri

It's a one-way walk. The girl is all alone.

足跡だけが家まで繋つなぐルート

ashiato dake ga ie made tsunagu rūto

Only her footprints lead the way back to her house.

面影残る公園くぐり抜けて

omokage nokoru kōen kugurinukete

Making her way through a park of which only traces remain

ふと見えた、先を知らぬ橋へ進む

futo mieta, saki o shiranu hashi e susumu

she proceeds towards a bridge she happened to see that leads to somewhere unknown to her.

朝方六時、まだ辺りも暗く

asagata rokuji, mada atari mo kuraku

At six o'clock in the morning, it's still dark all around

降り注ぐ雪はさらに強く変わる

furisosogu yuki wa sarani tsuyoku kawaru

and the snow pouring down makes a turn for the worse.

見知らぬ景色、林くぐり抜けて

mishiranu keshiki, hayashi kugurinukete

In an unfamiliar scene, the girl makes her way through a woodland

銀世界前に　はしゃぐ少女、一人

ginsekai mae ni hashagu shōjo, hitori

and plays around on the snowscape on her own.

ふと、その先に通りがかる兎追いかけて

futo, sono saki ni tōrigakaru usagi oikakete

Pursuing a rabbit that happened to pass by in front of her,

雪景色を駆ける、走る

yukigeshiki o kakeru, hashiru

she races, she runs through the snowy scene.

走り疲れ、一つため息

hashiritsukare, hitotsu tameiki

Tired of running, she breaths a sigh.

吐いた息は　白くゆらり

haita iki wa shiroku yurari

Her white breath wavers in the air

冷たくなった両頬を

tsumetaku natta ryōhoho o

as she wraps her hands

両手で包んで

ryōte de tsutsunde

around her cheeks now cold to the touch.

何処どこまでもまた　広がる雪景色

dokomademo mata hirogaru yukigeshiki

Having lost track of the time while running,

ふと気づき、ぐるりと景色を見渡す

futo kizuki, gururi to keshiki o miwatasu

the girl happens to realize and turns about to survey the scene.

森の中ではまだ辺りも暗く

mori no naka de wa mada atari mo kuraku

Inside the forest, it's still dark all around her

似通った杉の木々が雪を落とす

nikayotta sugi no kigi ga yuki o otosu

and snow drops down from the cedars that all look alike.

ふと振り返り、足元を見やれば

futo furikaeri, ashimoto o miyareba

When she happened to look back and examine her footsteps,

降り積もる雪が全て覆い隠す

furitsumoru yuki ga subete ōikakusu

the piling snow covers everything.

どうしたものか、これでは帰れない。

dō shita mono ka, kore de wa kaerenai.

Whatever she does, now she can't find her way home.

小さな背中を焦りが駆けていく

chiisana senaka o aseri ga kakete iku

Panic crawls down her back.

歩き疲れ、それでも歩き

arukitsukare, soredemo aruki

Tired of walking yet still walking,

凍え出した体摩さする

kogoedashita karada sasuru

she rubs her body that has started to freeze.

一人で家を飛び出した

hitori de ie o tobidashita

She's just a five year old girl

五つの少女よ

itsutsu no shōjo yo

who dashed out of home on her own.
