澄み切った空に笑い声　

Sumikitta sora ni waraigoe

Sounds of laughter beneath a cloudless sky,

巣立ちを祝うその言葉

sudachi o iwau sono kotoba

they celebrate our coming of age.

こんな気持ちは初めてで　

Konna kimochi wa hajimete de

I had never felt like that before

表す術すべを知らずにいた

arawasu sube o shirazu ni ita

and I stood there, not knowing how to express it.

悲しいことじゃない　

Kanashii koto ja nai

"It's nothing sad."

それならどうしてこの胸は痛い

Sore nara dōshite kono mune wa itai

In that case why does my chest hurt?

キンコンカンの鐘は鳴るけれど　

Kin kon kan no kane wa naru keredo

Clang clang the bells ring

僕はまだ帰らずに

boku wa mada kaerazu ni

but instead of going home yet,

二度と戻らない風景を　

nidoto modoranai fūkei o

I burned into my memory until the very last

最後まで焼きつけた

saigo made yakitsuketa

this sight to which I will never return.

帰りの道は静かすぎて　

Kaeri no michi wa shizukasugite

The way home was too quiet

躓いた石を蹴り飛ばした

tsumazuita ishi o keritobashita

and I kicked away a stone that I tripped on.

カラカラ響くその音も　

Karakara hibiku sono oto mo

Even the echoing sounds of chortling

水音と混じりすぐ消えた

minaoto to majiri sugu kieta

blended into the sound of the water and soon faded.

ずっと続いてた時間は　

Zutto tsuzuite'ta jikan wa

All this time that went on and on

あっけなく過ぎて

akkenaku sugite

passed only too soon,

それだけ

soredake

that's all there is to say.

キンコンカンの鐘が鳴っていた　

Kin kon kan no kane ga natte ita

Clang clang the bells were ringing.

景色を忘れない

Keshiki o wasurenai

I won't forget the scene.

最後のページを閉じるとき　

Saigo no pēji o tojiru toki

When I closed the final page

涙が流れていた

namida ga nagarete ita

tears were flowing.

To fulfill my heartful of dreams

慣れ染んだ町を離れて行く

I left the town I had indelibly gotten used to.

「行ってきます」と口にした　

"Itte kimasu" to kuchi ni shita

"I'm off, I'll be back", were the words of my mouth.

「戻らない」とは言わなかった

"Modoranai" to wa iwanakatta

I didn't say, "I'm not coming back."

キンコンカンの鐘が鳴る頃は　

Kin kon kan no kane ga naru koro wa

While the bells rang and clanged,

知らなかった感情が

shiranakatta kanjō ga

emotions I hadn't known

明日の僕を締め付けても　

asu no boku o shimetsukete mo

pressed hard on the me of tomorrow,

すぐに慣れるから

sugu ni nareru kara

but soon I'll get used to it, so

さよなら

sayonara

goodbye.

過ぎゆく季節に　

Sugi yuku kisetsu ni

In the passage of the seasons,

別れを告げたら

wakare o tsugetara

when I bid farewell,

いつかまた帰る日まで　

itsuka mata kaeru hi made

until one day when I return,

変わらずそのままで

kawarazu sono mama de

unchanged since I left,

そのときまでまたね

sono toki made mata ne

until then, see you later.
