and shut my eyes for the day.

I'll say good night to the moon

もうすこししたら　ねむろう

and soon go to sleep.

I wish both good stuff

やさしく　なればいいな

yasashiku nareba ii na

and bad stuff would become easier.

しゃがんで　よくみればきっと

shagande yoku mireba kitto

Because if I squat to look closer

みつかるから

mitsukaru kara

they'll be there.

よぞらにひかる　ほしのはなし

Yozora ni hikaru hoshi no hanashi

Talk among the stars shining in the night sky,

ぴかぴか　ぴぴぴ　ふざけあってる

pikapika pipipi fuzakeatte'ru

twinkling, tweeting, playing around together.

あさがきて　ひがのぼって

Asa ga kite hi ga nobotte

When morning comes, the sun rises,

ことりがないたら　またあした

kotori ga naitara mata ashita

and little birds sing, tomorrow has come again.

いつのまにか　さむくなって

Itsunomanika samuku natte

It's gotten cold before I knew it

ながそでだけじゃ　たりない

nagasode dake ja tarinai

and long-sleeves aren't enough.

しろいいきが　そらをのぼる

Shiroi iki ga sora o noboru

My white breath rises into the sky.

ゆらゆら　あそんで　きえてく

yurayura asonde kiete'ku

It plays to and from and vanishes.

すこしきゅうな　あのさかみち

Sukoshi kyū na ano sakamichi

I tried running a bit

ちょっとだけ　はしってみた

chotto dake hashitte mita

up that hill which is a little steep.

ちいさいことだけど　なにか

Chiisai koto da kedo nanika

It is a small thing but I feel

できそうだよ

dekisō da yo

I can do it somewhat.

オレンジいろの　ゆうやけぞら

Orenjiiro no yūyakezora

The orange sunset sky

まちをセピアに　ぬりかえてゆく

machi o sepia ni nurikaete yuku

is painting the town sepia.

ゆれる灯を　なぞりながら

Yureru hi o nazorinagara

Tracing the swaying lights

あしたのばしょまで　かえろうよ

ashita no basho made kaerō yo

I'll go back to where I should be tomorrow.

Frolicking children are chasing

おいかけてく　はしゃぐこどもたち

after the long long shapes of shadows.

そらのにおいを　かぜが

The wind changes the scent of the sky

しろく　しろく　おもいでにかえる

shiroku shiroku omoide ni kaeru

into white white memories.

つないでく　手とてのかず

tsunaide'ku te to te no kazu

The number times we were hand in hand,

ほほえんでる　きおくのしゃしん

hohoende'ru kioku no shashin

photographs of memories of us smiling,

うすれてく　わらいあったひや

usurete'ku waraiatta hi ya

days we laughed together and

しがみついて　ないたひを

shigamitsuite naita hi o

days that I cried clinging to you are fading away.

わすれないように

wasurenai yō ni

I hope I don't forget them.

かすんでも　みえなくても

Kasunde mo mienakute mo

Even if they become hazy and unable to be seen

たってられるように

tatte'rareru yō ni

I hope I can keep on standing.

だんだんとほら　よがあけてく

Dandan to hora yo ga akete'ku

Look, the sun is slowly rising

あたらしい日を　はこんでくれる

atarashii hi o hakonde kureru

bringing me a new day.

あとすこし　まどろんだら

Ato sukoshi madorondara

After I doze off a little more

あさひに　おはよう

asahi ni ohayō

I'll say good morning to the rising sun.

ことりがなくまで　またあした

Kotori ga naku made mada ashita

Till the little birds sing, see you tomorrow.
