夏の日　見慣れない風景に

Natsu no hi minarenai fūkei ni

On a summer's day, I pedal my bike

自転車　転がしてく

jitensha korogashite'ku

to a place I haven't seen before.

汗だく　でもペダルは止まらない

Asedaku demo pedaru wa tomaranai

Though I'm dripping with sweat, the pedal keeps going.

突然　開けた場所に出たら

Totsuzen hiraketa basho ni detara

Suddenly, when I came to an open space,

緑の　スニーカーと

midori no sunīkā to

you were standing there

サラサラ　髪をなびかせて佇たたずんでた

sarasara kami o nabikasete tatazunde'ta

with green sneakers and hair fluttering.

君が振り返る　風が吹く

Kimi ga furikaeru kaze ga fuku

You turned around, the wind blew,

僕だけが　止まって

boku dake ga tomatte

while I was the only one who stopped.

なんだかちょっと　不安になるけど

Nandaka chotto fuan ni naru kedo

I felt a touch uneasy,

君が手を伸ばして　近づいた

kimi ga te o nobashite chikazuita

but you stretched out your hand and came up to me.

「一緒に、ねぇ　遊ぼう！」

"Issho ni, nē asobō!"

"Hey, let's play together!"

眩しそうに　笑っていた

Mabushisō ni waratte ita

you said with a radiant smile.

次の日　やっぱり慣れない道

Tsugi no hi yappari narenai michi

The next day again on the unfamiliar road,

自転車　転がしては

jitensha korogashite wa

pedalling my bike

高鳴る胸抑えて　駆けつけていた

takanaru mune osaete kaketsukete ita

and suppressing the beating in my chest, I rushed over.

水がキラキラと　音を立て

Mizu ga kirakira to oto o tate

The sparkling water made a sound

虹色に輝く

nijiiro ni kagayaku

and glistened in a rainbow.

公園中　水浸しだけど

Kōenjū mizubitashi da kedo

The whole park was covered with water,

君が楽しそうに　笑うから

kimi ga tanoshisō ni warau kara

but you smiled like you were having a good time,

「明日も、ねぇ･･･遊ぼう？」

"Ashita mo, nē … asobō?"

so you say, "Tomorrow, hey … Let's play again?"

指切りして　約束だよ

Yubikiri shite yakusoku da yo

It's a pinky promise.

Shizumi yuku yūgure ni

In the dusk of the setting sun,

僕たちが　このまま

bokutachi ga kono mama

I wished we could

ずっと一緒に　居られたらいいね

zutto issho ni iraretara ii ne

always stay like this.

それでも　帰らなきゃ　あの街に

Soredemo kaeranakya ano machi ni

But I had to go back to my home town.

『来年も　また遊ぼう！』

'rainen mo mata asobō!'

'We'll play again next year!'

忘れないで　約束だよ

wasurenaide yakusoku da yo
