Toaru mori ni sumu yōkai no ohanashi

This is the story of a goblin that lived in a certain forest.

ずっとひとりぼっちだった　

zutto hitoribotchi datta

I was all alone

君に出会うまでは

kimi ni deau made wa

until I met you.

変な服だと笑われて　

hen na fuku da to warawarete

With you laughing at my strange clothes,

初めて笑顔知った

hajimete egao shitta

I discovered smiles for the first time.

二人でする遊びなんて　

futari de suru asobi nante

I never knew about

僕は知らなかった

boku wa shiranakatta

playing with someone else.

君が教えてくれた事　

kimi ga oshiete kureta koto

I enjoyed everything

全部楽しかった

zenbu tanoshikatta

you showed me.

友達の証だって　

tomodachi no akashi da tte

saying it was a token of our friendship

君がくれた折鶴と

kimi ga kureta orizuru to

the origami paper crane

一枚の折り紙は　

ichimai no origami wa

you gave me

今は僕の宝物だよ

ima wa boku no takaramono da yo

is now my treasured possession.

何度も何度も折りなおして　

nando mo nando mo orinaoshite

After refolding it so many times

この紙はもうボロボロだけれど

kono kami wa mō boroboro da keredo

this sheet of paper has tattered,

君がくれたこの折鶴は

kimi ga kureta kono orizuru wa

but I really cherish

大切に大切に持ってるよ

taisetsu ni taisetsu ni motte'ru yo

this paper crane you gave me.

不器用な僕の指先じゃ

bukiyō na boku no yubisaki ja

My clumsy fingers

上手く折れないけど頑張るよ

umaku orenai kedo ganbaru yo

can't fold it properly but I keep trying,

次に会う時までにきっと

tsugi ni au toki made ni kitto

so that by the time we next meet,

上手く折れるようになるからね

umaku oreru yō ni naru kara ne

I'll surely be able to do it well.

彼はずっと待ち続けました

Kare wa zutto machitsuzukemashita

He continued to wait

いつまでもいつまでも

itsumademo itsumademo

on and on …

どこにもなくさないように　

doko ni mo nakusanai yō ni

So I wouldn't lose it somewhere

しっかり持ってたら

shikkari motte'tara

I held on firmly,

不器用な僕の手は　

bukiyō na boku no te wa

but my clumsy hands

にぎりつぶしてた

nigiritsubushite'ta

ended up crushing it.

友達の証なんだ　

tomodachi no akashi na n da

It's the token of our friendship.

もしもなおせなかったら

moshimo naosenakattara

If I can't fix it,

君との絆も一緒に　

kimi to no kizuna mo issho ni

my bond with you

つぶれてしまうそんなのやだよ

will be destroyed. I would hate that!

何度も何度も転びながら

Falling over again and again

僕は頑張って走ったんだ

I thought that surely someone

なおしてくれるそう思っていた

would fix my paper crane for me.

何度も何度もたずねても

No matter how many times I ask,

どうしてみんな僕を無視するの？
