The sky shines blue so blue,

so the sea also appears blue so blue.

風が緑色にそよぐから

kaze ga midoriiro ni soyogu kara

The wind rustles in green,

花も安心して咲けるんだ

hana mo anshin shite sakeru n da

so the flowers can rest easy and bloom.

虫カゴで蝉が鳴いている

mushikago de semi ga naite iru

The cicadas are singing in the cage.

もう少しだけガマンしてね

mō sukoshi dake gaman shite ne

Hang in there just a bit longer.

おうちについたら

ouchi ni tsuitara

Because when I get home,

数だけ数えて

kazu dake kazoete

I'll just count you

逃がしてあげるから

nigashite ageru kara

and let you go.

公園の裏におちていた

kōen no ura ni ochite ita

I dropped at the back of the park

お月さまみたいな石ころ

otsukisama mitai na ishikoro

a pebble looking like the moon.

宝物にしようとしたんだ

takaramono ni shiyō to shita n da

I tried to make it one of my treasures.

秘密の引き出しにしまうんだ

himitsu no hikidashi ni shimau n da

I'll keep it in my secret drawer.

丘の上のくぬぎに登ると

oka no ue no kunugi ni noboru to

When I climb the oak tree at the top of the hill,

積み木のまちが見えるんだ

tsumiki no machi ga mieru n da

the lumberyard comes into view.

明日もまたきっと晴れるから

asu mo mata kitto hareru kara

Tomorrow will surely be a nice day,

明日もまた良いこと見つかる

asu mo mata ii koto mitsukaru

so I'll find something good again tomorrow.

ポケットの中で石ころが笑った

poketto no naka de ishikoro ga waratta

The pebble in my pocket smiled.

雲が高く高く伸びるから

kumo ga takaku takaku nobiru kara

The clouds reach up high so high,

僕も高く高く飛んでみた

boku mo takaku takaku tonde mita

so I too tried flying high so high.

鳥が楽しそうに遊ぶから

tori ga tanoshisō ni asobu kara

The birds are enjoying themselves playing,

僕もとっておきを歌うんだ

so I too sing a song I've saved for now.

腹ペコの虫が鳴いている

harapeko no mushi ga naite iru

My tummy's rumbling.

I'll hang in there just a bit longer.

おうちについたら

ouchi ni tsuitara

Because when I get home,

ママのごちそうが

I'm sure mum's got a treat

待ってるはずだから

waiting for me.

神社で見つけたドングリと

jinja de mitsuketa donguri to

The acorn I found at the shrine,

パパの手より大きな葉っぱも

papa no te yori ookina happa mo

and the leaf bigger than dad's hand.

宝物にしようとしたんだ

takaramono ni shiyou to shita n da

I tried to make them my treasures.

ナイショの空き瓶にしまうんだ

naisho no akibin ni shimau n da

I'll keep them in my private bottle.

真っ赤な鳥居の横に立つと

When I stood next to the bright red torii gate,

港がスイカに見えたんだ

the port looked like a watermelon.

お肉と野菜が買ってたから

oniku to yasai ga katte'ta kara

She bought meat and vegetables,

今夜は絶対カレーライス

kon'ya wa zettai kareeraisu

So for sure it'll be curry rice tonight.

ポケットの穴からドングリが落ちた

poketto no ana kara donguri ga ochita

The acorn fell out from a hole in my pocket.

so this is my town.

空が青く青く光るから

少年の瞳も輝いた

so a boy's eyes sparkle too.

… they sparkled.

公園の裏におちていた
