夜　見上げた空　よく目を凝らして

It's a long way ahead but it still frightens me

The stars in the heavens aren't there for anyone

夜空を照らしている

yozora o terashite iru

but just illuminate the night sky

kitto todokanai na tōku kasunda senaka

surely it's out of reach, your hazy receding form in the distance,

あの日の約束　まだ覚えていて

ano hi no yakusoku mada oboete ite

though I still remember our promise that day

遠い昔のこと　夜が怖いころ

tōi mukashi no koto yoru ga kowai koro

It was long ago, the time I was scared of the dark

もう平気なこと　同じように不安も盾にして

mō heiki na koto onaji yō ni fuan mo tate ni shite

I'm fine with it now, but I use my anxiety as a shield in the same way

when it's night again it's the same constellations

少しずつ変わるけど

sukoshi zutsu kawaru kedo

They gradually change,

季節はめぐるよ

kisetsu wa meguru yo

but the seasons come around again

満天の星は空の向こう側で

The stars of the heavens at the opposite end of the sky

shine unchanged ignorant of how I feel

miushinatte ii yo mayotte mo ii yo

I can lose sight, I can be unsure

だけど時々空を見上げて

dakedo tokidoki sora o miagete

But I sometimes look up at the sky

because the stars in the heavens aren't there for anyone
