睡蓮 ♥ Suiren ♥ Water Lily

風がそよぐ夏の夜、波打つた水面に浮く、

kaze ga soyogu natsu no yo, nami utta minamo ni uku,

On a summer's night with a gentle breeze, they float on the water,

それはまるで恋のやうに、惹き合って、揺れてゐる。

sore wa marude koi no yō ni, hikiatte, yurete'ru.

swaying with the waves, drawing close as if in love.

触れたくて、届かずに、

furetakute, todokazu ni,

Out of reach though I want to touch,

仕方なく「そつと見守ってゐやうか」と、思つた。

shikata naku "sotto mimamotte iyō ka" to, omotta.

all I can do is think, "Shall I quietly watch over them?"

それはつまり愛のやうに、只在って、何も為さず、

sore wa tsumari ai no yō ni, tada atte, nani mo nasazu,

They are but the likes of love, simply being, achieving naught,

風に揺れる花弁に　いつだつて微笑む。

kaze ni yureru kaben ni itsudatte hohoemu.

petals swaying in the breeze, upon which I always smile.

「雨露の様にいつでも、穏やかな恵みをそつと･･･」

"uro no yō ni itsudemo, odayaka na megumi o sotto …"

"As the dew and rain grace these, may peaceful blessings come quietly …"

さう願い、在らうとするは人情。

sō negai, arō to suru wa ninjō.

Wishing thus, what tries to dwell in me is empathy.

だからこそ「ずつと見守らう」と頑なに、信じた。

dakara koso “zutto mimamorō” to katakuna ni, shinjita.

For this very reason I obstinately believed, "I'll always keep watch over them."

池に這入れないから、燻って、そう在るだけ

soba ni irarenai kara, kusubutte, sō aru dake

Since I can't stay beside them, my feelings only remain unfulfilled.

それは、まさに愛のやうに、いつだつて残留するように、と。

sore wa, masani ai no yō ni, itsudatte nokoru yō ni, to.

As it truly is with love, may these feelings always remain.
