何かを探して　街を歩く

I'm roaming the town looking for something,

探すものなんて　本当は無いのに

though, truth is, there's nothing to look for.

何かを変える　勇気キッカケすらなくて

There's nothing to make me change anything

また　下を向いて　歩く

so I look down again and walk on.

街路樹の下で　動けない雛鳥を見た

Under a tree beside the road I saw a chick that couldn't move.

力弱くとも　鳴くことをやめない彼女は

Chikara yowaku tomo naku koto o yamenai kanojo wa

Even though she was weak, she wouldn't stop chirping.

今の自分よりも　強く見えた

ima no jibun yori mo tsuyoku mieta

She looked stronger than I did right now.

今なら　何かを　変えられる

Ima nara nanika o kaerareru

Right now, I can change something.

羽ばたくんだ　自分の力で

Habataku n da jibun no chikara de

Time to flap my wings with my own strength.

今は　小さな小さな　小鳥のような夢

Right now I have a dream like that of a small, small bird.

ふらふら　いろんな壁に　ぶち当たって

I'm tottering about, hitting walls everywhere.

今日も必死に　羽ばたいてる

Again today I'm frantically flapping around.

やっと見つけた　確かなもの

Yatto mitsuketa tashika na mono

I finally found something sure.

それを人はちっぽけだと嘲笑う

Sore o hito wa chippoke da to azawarau

While a large, large bird holds fascination,

小さな蝶だって　可憐に舞うだろう

even a little butterfly dances daintily.

Time to take flight with my own wings.

Right now I'm pelted by rain and my dreams look precarious.

どこかで雨宿りするぐらいなら

Dokoka de ameyadori suru gurai nara

If I can so much as find a shelter from the rain somewhere,

あの雲を　突き抜けて行こうよ

ano kumo o tsukinukete ikō yo

I'll break through the cloud.

雷をうけて　脆くも崩れ落ちるココロ

Kaminari o ukete moroku mo kuzureochiru kokoro

My heart, struck by lightning, fragile, crumbling.

今度こそダメだと　音を上げそうなとき

kondo koso dame da to oto o agesō na toki

when it's about to cry out that I've reached the end,

思い出すのは　あの街路樹の下で

omoidasu no wa ano gairoju no shita de

what I recall are the faces

助けてくれた人たちの顔

tasukete kureta hitotachi no kao

of those who helped me under that tree by the road.
