帰り道　気の遠くなるような距離だ

The way home is so long it makes my head spin.

お腹はぐぅぐぅと唸りを立ててる

onaka wa gūgū to unari o tatete'ru

My tummy's grumbling away.

後輩はとっくに帰宅した　今日も

kōhai wa tokkuni kitaku shita kyō mo

Today again when the younger students have already gone home

家に着く頃にはもう子供も眠ってる事だろう

by the time I get home the kids will probably be sleeping.

テーブルに置かれた冷や飯かっ食らって

I gulped down the cold rice left on the table,

足音を消して冷めた風呂に浸かって

with silent footsteps I dipped in the cold bathwater,

薄汚れた天井の隅を見つめた

usuyogoreta tenjō no sumi o mitsumeta

and stared at the grubby corner of the ceiling.

でもなぜだろうな　幸せに気づいてら

But I wonder why I've noticed that I'm happy.

誰かの為と言い聞かせたら

When I convince myself it's for someone else,

時々重く感じることもあるけど

although there are times when I feel burdened,
