The magnitude of time presses upon me.

季節は巡り　世界も巡る

Kisetsu wa meguri sekai mo meguru

Seasons turn; the world turns too.

だけど私は　ひとり残され

Dakedo watashi wa hitori nokosare

I, however, am left alone,

動けないままで　たたずむ　ただ

ugokenai mama de tatazumu tada

unable to move, merely standing still.

舞い落ちる　花びらの下

Maiochiru hanabira no shita

Beneath the petals fluttering down,

今も憶えていますか？　あの日の約束

ima mo oboete imasu ka? ano hi no yakusoku

do you still remember the promise we made that day?

もう二度と　戻れぬ私は

Mō nidoto modorenu watashi wa

Unable ever to return, I

あの場所へ帰りたいと　泣くのです

ano basho e kaeritai to naku no desu

weep that I want to go back there.

やがて雪は溶け　柔らかな光

Yagate yuki wa toke yawaraka na hikari

Before long the snow melts and soft light

降り注ぐ場所に　導かれていた

furisosogu basho ni michibikarete ita

pours down on the place to where I was led,

大切なものが　増えていく　いま

taisetsu na mono ga fuete'ku ima

now that there are more people that I care about.

せせらぎに　浮かべた笹舟

Seseragi ni ukabeta sasabune

The toy boat I floated in the creek,

すぐに見えなくなって　流れて消えてく

sugu ni mienaku natte nagarete kiete'ku

soon disappears from sight, carried off by the stream.

優しさに　囲まれ私は

Yasashisa ni kakomare watashi wa

Surrounded by kindness, I laugh

流されても仕方ないねって　笑うんです

nagasarete mo shikata nai ne tte warau n desu

that there's nothing I can do about it even if it's carried off.

生まれては消えてゆく

Umarete wa kiete yuku

As soon as one is born, one starts fading away.

悲しみ喜び響き合って

Kanashimi yorokobi hibikiatte

Sadness and joy echo with each other

この世界をつくる

kono sekai o tsukuru

and form this world.

いつの日か　この痛み消えても

Itsu no hi ka kono itami kiete mo

Though one day this pain disappear,

あなたは許してくれますか？　あの日と同じく

anata wa yurushite kuremasu ka? ano hi to onajiku

will you forgive me as you did that day?

流されて　それでも私は

Nagasarete soredemo watashi wa

Though carried off, even so, I

かけがえない人たちと　生きてゆきます

kakegae nai hitotachi to ikite yukimasu

will go on living with people I could never replace.

この灯火きえるまで　生きてゆきます

Kono tomoshibi kieru made ikite yukimasu

Until this light goes out, I will go on living.
