with a delicious scent,

the scent of activity.

ならぶ　ひとのれつが

narabu hito no retsu ga

The line of people

ながく　ながくのびた

nagaku nagaku nobita

grew longer and longer.

しあわせと　えがおを

shiawase to egao o

They passed along

てわたしていった

tewatashite itta

smiles and happiness.

ペンキの　はがれた

penki no hagareta

I held onto a bench

ベンチに　つかまって

benchi ni tsukamatte

whose paint had come off.

いつかの　こえが

itsuka no koe ga

What my voice once uttered

うみかぜへと　にじんだ

umikaze e to nijinda

disappeared into the sea breeze.

まなつの　よいんが

manatsu no yoin ga

The echoes of summer

はくせんに　なびいて

hakusen ni nabiite

flutter on the white line.

きょうも　そらは

kyō mo sora wa

The sky again today

まぶしく　かがやいた

mabushiku kagayaita

shone radiantly.

we advance,

we advance in a sunny place.

A single grain of sand

しずくに　なって

shizuku ni natte

turned into a droplet

ちゅうを　まった

and danced in the air.

まだすこし　むしあつくって

mada sukoshi mushiatsuku tte

We complain it's still a bit humid.

それでも　なつはゆく

soredemo natsu wa yuku

Even so, summer moves on

みぎどなりの　きせつへと

migidonari no kisetsu e to

to the neighbouring season

ときを　たくして

toki o takushite

entrusting it the passage of time.

えがきつづけた　せかいを

egakitsuzuketa sekai o

The world I kept imagining

またたかせ

matatakase

I got to keep on going,

つづく　すがたを

tsuzuku sugata o

its ongoing forms

かさねた

kasaneta

continuing.

みらいを　ほどいた

mirai o hodoita

We unwrapped the future.
