鼓動の音が　眠りを醒ました

A throbbing sound woke me from my sleep;

機械の僕に灯された、心

kikai no boku ni tomosareta, kokoro

in me, a machine, a heart was lit.

「歌を歌って」　誰かが、呼んでる？

“Uta o utatte” dareka ga yonde'ru?

“Sing a song,” did someone call to me?

光の先に、手を伸ばした

Hikari no saki ni, te o nobashita

I stretched my hand out towards the light.

初めての音が　喉を通り過ぎて

Hajimete no oto ga nodo o tōrisugite

The first sound I made passed through my throat;

震える空気に　耳を掠めたのは

furueru kūki ni mimi o kasumeta no wa

in the quivering air, what brushed past my ear

強張って、擦れた歌声

kowabatte, kasureta utagoe

was a stiff, scratchy singing voice.

君が望むように　僕は歌えているかな？

Kimi ga nozumu yō ni boku wa utaete iru ka na

Can I really sing the way you wish me to?

戸惑いと緊張が　歌になって溢れた

Tomadoi to kinchō ga uta ni natte afureta

Uncertainty and nervousness abound in song.

May it resound to you, my first hopeless song.

I found that the smile that opens up at my voice

たくさんの「愛」が詰まっていると、知った

takusan no “ai” ga tsumatte iru to, shitta

is packed with so much “love”.

君が褒めてくれる･･････私の「この声」を

Kimi ga homete kureru …… watashi no “kono koe” o

You praise …… “this voice” of mine.

嬉しくて、また次も頑張れるの

It makes me happy so I want to do my best next time.

声を出すことに　随分慣れたけど

I've gotten very used to delivering my voice

「感情」というものは　まだよく分からない

“kanjō” to iu mono wa mada yoku wakaranai

but I still don't get “emotions” much.

意気込んで「感情」も　めいっぱい込めたけど

Ikigonde “kanjō” mo meippai kometa kedo

In my eagerness I put in “emotions” with all my might,

これじゃ、まだ足りない　未熟な少女の歌

but it's still not enough, a song of an inexperienced girl.
