but the amazing mirror I've got

「ときどき　あたしとちがうカオをするの」

"sometimes shows a different face to mine."

毎日おんなじコトの繰り返し

Every day doing the same thing,

つぶやいて　顔上げたら

When I muttered this and looked up,

鏡の中　見慣れたしかめっつらが

kagami no naka minareta shikamettsura ga

In the mirror, the scowl I was used to seeing

ニッコリ笑った

nikkori waratta

made a cheerful smile.

I want to make a proper smile too,

So I tried mimicking you.

When I muttered this and looked up,

鏡の中　張り付けた笑顔が

kagami no naka haritsuketa egao ga

The pasted smile in the mirror

グニャグニャって歪んだ

gunyagunya tte iganda

morphed into something distorted.

そうよ！

sō yo!

That's right!

ちょうどそんなふうに　

chōdo sonna fū ni

All the while I wanted to cry too,

あたしだってずっと泣きたかった！

atashi datte zutto nakitakatta!

だから君のまねっこしてみた

So I tried mimicking you.

カッコわるいや　だけど気持ちいいな

Looks unappealing, but it feels good.

ちいさな言葉で　大きなケンカ

Had a big fight over trifling words.

When I muttered this and looked up,

鏡の中　プリプリ怒りんぼが

kagami no naka puripuri okorinbo ga

a furious sourpuss in the mirror

しょんぼり首をふる

shonbori kubi o furu

dejectedly shakes their head.

そうよ！

sō yo!

That's right!

ちょうどそんなふうに　

chōdo sonna fū ni

I really want to be true to myself,

あたしホントは素直でいたいの！

atashi honto wa sunao de itai no!

だから君と「ゴメンネ」の練習

dakara kimi to "gomen ne" no renshū

So I practised saying "I'm sorry" with you.

明日はちゃんとあのコに言えるかな

I hope I'll be able to say it properly to them tomorrow.

It seems I've been going kind of well lately.

When I muttered this and looked up,

鏡の中　キラキラ笑顔は

kagami no naka kirakira egao wa

The sparkling smiling face in the mirror

ビクともしないんだ

stands unperturbed.

あれれ？　ちょっと　どこ行ったの！

Huh!? Where did you go?

ねぇ　あたしのまねっこしてかくれんぼ？

Hey, did you mimic me and play hiding?

今日はとびきりのプレゼント持ってきたのに

kyō wa tobikiri no purezento motte kita no ni

Just when I brought a great present for you.

「君の名前を考えたんだよ」

"kimi no namae o kangaeta n da yo"

"I thought about a name for you!"

smiling when I want to smile,

まねっこはもう要らなかったみたい

manekko wa mō iranakatta mitai

It seems like I don't need a mimic anymore.

鏡の向こうを覗き込んだって

kagami no mukō o nozokikondatte

Even if I peer into the mirror,

君のことはもう見えなくなっちゃったな

kimi no koto wa mō mienaku natchatta na

I don't get to see you anymore.

だけどこれからもずっと一緒だ、って言って

dakedo kore kara mo zutto issho da, tte itte

However, you said we'll continue staying together,

きっとあたしたちおんなじ顔で笑いあってたね

kitto atashitachi onnaji kao de waraiatte'ta ne

so surely we've been smiling with each other with the same face.
