Memories awaken. The air quivered.

“父に似ている”と　笑いかけてきた

“Chichi ni nite iru” to waraikakete kita

“You resemble your father,” they told me with a smile.

どこか懐かしい　泥だらけの顔

Dokoka natsukashii doro darake no kao

Somewhere I fondly remember a face covered in mud.

二人つなぐ　てのひら　小さな温もり

Futari tsunagu tenohira chiisana nukumori

Palms that link two people, a small warmth.

夕餉(ゆうげ)香る　最後の　淡い約束

Yūge kaoru saigo no awai yakusoku

A final, weak promise with the aroma of dinner.

“さよなら”　なくした夢を　追いかけよう

“Sayonara” Nakushita yume o oikakeyō

“Farewell.” I pursue a lost dream.

小さな子犬を　連れて飛び出した

Chiisana koinu o tsurete tobidashita

I rush out with my small puppy dog.

“気をつけるよう”と　父の声を背に

“Ki o tsukeru yō” to chichi no koe o se ni

“Be careful,” my father's voice from behind.

見知らぬ出会いに　のぞきこんできた

Mishiranu deai ni nozokikonde kita

I've been peering into an unfamiliar encounter.

どこか懐かしい　青色の瞳

Dokoka natsukashii aoiro no hitomi

Somewhere I fondly remember blue eyes.

Futari tsunagu tenohira ookina nukumori

Palms that link two people, a big warmth.

夕日照らす　笑顔に　強く誓うよ

Yūhi terasu egao ni tsuyoku chikau yo

I firmly vow to a face lit by the setting sun.

“さよなら”　去った背中が　泣いて見えた

“Sayonara” Satta senaka ga naite mieta

“Farewell.” The back of someone leaving appears to weep.
