Vivid and grey,

街並みは冷たかった

the town was cold.

気紛れ　慈悲の手も

The fickle hands of mercy

人ごみに消えてく

hitogomi ni kiete'ku

are disappearing into the crowd.

いつまでも変わることない

Itsu made mo kawaru koto nai

A never changing

闇へ垂れる月の雫

yami e tareru tsuki no shizuku

moondrop hangs in the darkness.

路地裏に声を鳴らして

Rojiura ni koe o narashite

I raised my voice in the alley

小さな空を見上げた

chiisana sora o miageta

and looked up at the small sky.

ツンと澄まして　誇りと見栄を抱いて

Tsunto sumashite hokori to mie o daite

Smug, proud and pretentious,

水たまりに映る夜を仰いだ

mizutamari ni utsuru yoru o aoida

I looked up at the night reflected in the puddle.

引っかき傷を舐めたら次の朝へ

Hikkakikizu o nametara tsugi no asa e

I lick my scratches, and on to the next morning.

grubby hands reached out.

暴れもがいて　埃まみれの僕へ

All covered in dust, I struggled and squirmed,
