A thrush chokes back tears in grief.

忘れ難きは在りし日の記憶

Wasuregataki wa arishihi no kioku

I can't forget that memory from days gone by

祖国に背を向けし肉親の

of my own flesh and blood turning his back on his homeland,

凍てつくような最後の視線と

itetsuku yō na saigo no shisen to

a final, frigid look at me,

小さくなっていく未だ幼き背中

and his back, still so young, receding and getting smaller.

嗚呼　哀しみの雨はやがて

a sword that shreds

切り裂く剣のように

kirisaku tsurugi no yō ni

even affection and beauty

背徳の咎とがに裁きを　

haitoku no toga ni sabaki o

renders judgement on corrupt sin

可憐な翼に慈愛を

karen na tsubasa ni jiai o

and love to delicate wings

壊れた歯車の音さえも　

kowareta haguruma no oto sae mo

while even the sound of broken gears

聞こえぬまま

cannot be heard.

With an icy smile I set foot on foreign soil.

祖国に背を向けし肉親の

At the sight of my kin who turned his back on his homeland

在りし日のまま変わらぬ姿に

arishihi no mama kawaranu sugata ni

unchanged since that day

嗚咽おえつと共に目覚める狂気の業火

oetsu to tomo ni mezameru kyōki no gōka

insane hell fire awakens to accompany my sobbing.

横たわる亡骸を

yokotawaru nakigara o

I shook and shook

幾度となく揺らす　

ikudotonaku yurasu

the lifeless fallen body

腕に滴る紅き息吹

ude ni shitataru akaki ibuki

but in my arms dripped drops of scarlet breath.

非道の過ちに慈悲を　

Hidō no ayamachi ni jihi o

Mercy upon this terrible mistake,

悔恨の業に救済すくいを

kaikon no gō ni sukui o

salvation to this regretful karma,

全ては手にしたその剣の赴くまま

subete wa te ni shita sono tsurugi no omomuku mama

as the sword I took in my hand now leads all.
