目覚めたとき僕はひとり

Mezameta toki boku wa hitori

When I awoke, I was alone

黒く塗りつぶされた部屋

Kuroku nuritsubusareta heya

[in] a room all painted black.

何も見えず　何も聞こえず

Nani mo miezu nani mo kikoezu

Seeing nothing, hearing nothing,

一人震える闇の中

hitori furueru yami no naka

I tremble alone in the dark.

天井には大きな穴

Tenjō ni wa ōki na ana

There was a big hole in the ceiling.

よく見ればそこには巨大なぜんまい

Yoku mireba soko ni wa kyodai na zenmai

Looking carefully, there was a huge coil spring.

その先から突如響く

Sono saki kara totsujo hibiku

Suddenly from one end echoed

得体の知れぬ不気味な声

etai no shirenu bukimi na koe

a strange, uncanny voice.

「罪深き少年よ

“Tsumibukaki shōnen yo

“Sinful boy,

　お前はこの先永遠に

omae wa kono saki eien ni

from now and for ever,

　この部屋からは出られぬ」

kono heya kara wa derarenu”

you cannot leave this room,”

と言った

it said.

瞬間　思い出した全ての記憶

Shunkan omoidashita subete no kioku

In an instant all my memories came to me,

自らが重ねた罪の数々を

mizukara ga kasaneta tsumi no kazukazu o

the number of my accumulated sins.

ここにいる理由と結末に気づいた

Koko ni iru riyū to ketsumatsu ni kizuita

I realized the reason I was here, this conclusion,

もうあのころには戻れないのだと

Mō ano koro ni wa modorenai no da to

that I can no longer return to that time.

気づけば両腕にはめられた赤い手錠

Kizukeba ryōude ni hamerareta akai tejō

I noticed that my arms were tied in red handcuffs.

それはきっと誰かの流した血の色

Sore wa kitto dareka no nagashita chi no iro

That’s surely the colour of blood someone shed.

両の足首には青い色の鎖

Ryō no ashikubi ni wa aoi iro no kusari

Both my ankles were in blue chains.

それはきっと誰かの涙の色

Sore wa kitto dareka no namida no iro

That’s surely the colour of someone’s tears.

「るりらるりら」　聞こえてきた歌は

“Ru ri ra ru ri ra” kikoete kita uta wa

“Lu li la lu li la”, the song I could hear,

誰が歌う子守唄だろうか･･･

dare ga utau komoriuta darō ka …

who could it be singing a lullaby …?

どれほどの時が流れただろう

Dore hodo no toki ga nagareta darō

How much time had passed?

動かぬぜんまいに尋ねた

ugokanu zenmai ni tazuneta

I enquired of the unmoving spring.

どこからともなく聞こえてくる

Doko kara tomonaku kikoete kuru

Coming from goodness knows where,

歌声だけが僕を癒す

utagoe dake ga boku o iyasu

only the singing voice heals me.

ある日僕は気づいたんだ

Aru hi boku wa kizuita n da

One day I realized

その歌の真実の意味を

sono uta no shinjitsu no imi o

the true meaning of that song.

そして僕は子守唄に

Soshite boku wa komoriuta ni

So then, to the lullaby,

新しい言葉を付け足した

atarashii kotoba o tsuketashita

I added new words.

落ちてきた小さな光

a glimmer of light fell down.

廻り始めたぜんまいは静かに語る

Mawarihajimeta zenmai wa shizuka ni kataru

Starting to turn, the coil softly tells me,

「罪が決して許されることはない」

“Tsumi ga keshite yurusareru koto wa nai”

“There’s no way your sins will be forgiven.”

だけど　水という言葉　悪という言葉

Dakedo mizu to iu kotoba aku to iu kotoba

However, the word “water”, the word “evil”,

僕らはそれらを唄へと変えよう

bokura wa sorera o uta e to kaeyō

we will turn them into a song.

赤い手錠外れ　僕に語りかける

Akai tejō hazure boku ni katarikakeru

The red handcuffs came off and tell me,

「これからあなたは生まれ変わるのよ」と

“Kore kara anata wa umarekawaru no yo” to

“Soon, you will be reborn.”

青い足枷外れ　僕に話しかける

Aoi ashikase hazure boku ni hanashikakeru

The blue shackles came off and tell me,

「今日が君の新しいBirthday」

“Kyō ga kimi no atarashii bāsudei”

“Today is your new birthday.”

すべてが廻りそして白く染まる

Subete ga mawari soshite shiroku somaru

Everything turns and then goes white.

もうすぐ君に会いに行くよ

Mō sugu kimi ni ai ni yuku yo

Very soon I’m coming to meet you.
